First time fishing somass

Looking to pontoon the somass river is this river too fast for that. Where do people put in take out. any maps of closures the regs are a mile long and I’m on familiar with area

Just for clarification - are you talking the Stamp or the Somass? I think most people float the Stamp? There's an upper river section and a lower river section. Only a few people every decade or so try going over Stamp falls... !!!

Thanks for your reply just researching it now. I’m not getting too far with it and a complete noob and would like to learn more if anyone’s willing to share.

I've never done any of the drifts, but have hiked the upper river (Money's pool area) and from gun club off Mackenzie road up to the falls and back. Definitely can go from below the falls to the gun club. Not sure where the pullout is below the gun club. I'd ask at Gone Fishin' in Port A. or Nanaimo for specifics.

Thread 'Launch drift boat /Stamp river?????'

Hey Guys. I have put in at the bucket up at the shingle mill for years. Dave Murphy is saying that the driveway is blocked with a giant log again this year. I have a 17' aluminum and I really need to dump it in somewhere other than the gun club. We normally put our NRS raft in there but apparently membership could be facing an end there at the rifle range as well. Anyone put boats in at the slide pool below the falls anymore?????? Ideas??????? That drift from the bucket to service road is the ticket for Chinook. I don't want to hear about the top end drift until mid December.
