First generation being converted to the latest generation.

I received a message on Instagram from a dedicated PEETZ fan in the USA last week stating that his reel needs some TLC. He offered up some photos of the concerned area and instantly I replied "Send it in."

It turned out to be a first generation Evolution 5 inch reel. It was from the original concept era that Bill Hooson started to develop in the early 2000's, but didn't finalize a working prototype until the mid 2000's. This reel was from the first small production in around 2014 that was swiftly changed a few times until we landed on the last generation.

There was quite a bit of brass, small bearing sets and no stabilization bushings. The shaft was like the classic narrow style spindle.

Today I converted it into the newest generation Evolution drag system. Bigger everything. Bigger is better. Tomorrow it will be totally reassembled and ready to battle fish. Such a beautiful concept, now made better.

The first image is after the original reel is totally disabled and and all drag components pressed out of the core. The second image shares the old original concept components and the fully converted latest generation core components installed and waiting for reassembling.

The Legacy Keeps on Living.

Dang. I gotta send another one back to it's true home. Truly an honor to have had the opportunity to successfully treat this reel with the absolute respect it deserves. An iconic break through model for Peetz. I reel game character.

Now it will perform even better than originally intended. It's a true work of functional art.

The Legacy Lives on. Read for battle.
