Find me a Grady White 228 Seafarer

Probably high 40 to get it here , not to bad,under powered for that hull, but will work,if it was in Washington state that would get scooped up
I think a 250 hp is perfect for the Seafarer. I had the Seafarer with a suzuki 250 for years and loved it. Never had any "under " power issues.
 
250 HP is plenty for a 228G. They came originally with F225’s. I’d be looking for a hardtop tho. Game changer when weathers bad.

Always regularly serviced and proudly taken care of you'll find this 232 Gulfstream to be one of the nicest around.


Having been stored inside on a rack for its' time the trailer had really never been used so it just underwent quite the overhaul including complete hub assemblies, E-Z Lube Grease Caps, new aluminum bunk brackets, new carpet, new Y Bow Guide, new A Frame Bulldog Sidewind 2500# Winch, Winch Straps, Safety Chains, lighting and new tires all around.“

If the hull and transom are ok post survey and motors solid, buy it. That’s not an old boat for a Grady and a newer 300 HP twith 250 hrs is ideal. A 300 will be fine to push that boat. I know guys put 350’s on them but I used to see lots of them with twin 150’s. Nice the hulls not painted too so you can see it better.

The boat is in Florida, so all transactions will be online? Maybe hire a marine surveyor near the area, maybe facetime the owner? And if everything is good, hire uship to bring the boat to blaine. How would you do it?

I looked at and surveyed a few boats from Florida.. definitely do your due diligence.. if it truly is a Florida boat (registration looks like it's from Georgia?) it's likely been through a hurricane or two and has been baking in the sun. This one does look to be in great shape though. I spent alot of money surveying to either find water intrusion issues or structural damage from impacts (bashing around in a hurricane). There were good surveyors who did a good job and were good to communicate with. Shipping is not cheap and it's imperative you hire a legitimate company.. I know a few people that went cheap and it was an absolute nightmare. You're looking at 80k+ Canadian to get it over the border. Good deal if it's all solid.

I’ve sea trialed a 232 with a 225 Yamaha and it was a slug, 300 is going to good, with the right prop, depending on load, the 232 was local and priced at 55k in 2016( hull was an 2004 in great condition

I’ve travelled to look at a few boats. I wouldn’t buy one without putting my eyes on the boat personally. One boat I went to California to look at looked amazing on line. Low hours etc. Got down there and it was nothing like the presentation on line. Owner had used previous seller pixs. FaceTime might work as well. I sold my Suburban to a guy from Sacramento in January that way.

There is a company in Victoria called King Bros who specialize in boat importation who you should use. Makes the process easier.

Also, I’ve found a good place to look for boats in the US is Orange Beach Alabama. Lotta boats there.

Thanks Blair. Mine is a 1995 208. Have a yamaha salt water series 225 and a honda 15. Trim cylinders are shot on main but both motors run great. It's a 95 so I'm sure there's some transom rot in there. But I did fish it Wednesday and hooked 2 springs. Got my new to me boat in the water Thursday so grady up for grabs. No trailer but 10g takes it. Mo
 
I've looked over the 232 pictures and don't see any red flags at all.The right power for sure.No bottom paint is a plus,you never know what is hidden under paint. I'd want more pictures,engine inspection, and survey before considering an offer.
 
How do you bring the trailer to Canada?
Sorry, I wasn't bringing in a trailer. In your case you'd need to get them to cross the border or you could get them to meet you in Blaine, which is what Silver Lake told me is his normal process, then tow it across the Pacific Border Crossing with your vehicle. You'd need to get the trailer info and get an ICBC rider policy to get it to your residence. Then deal with the RIV BS. Make sure the trailer has brakes. Lots down there have them on one axle or none at all. Also, I found a lot of guys don't like crossing the border.
