Finally to the water ...

After a shakedown cruise last saturday, I have declared my boat 'ready'. Onwards to crabs, prawn, and those wonderful salmon.

I am moored and launch from Lions Bay. How is the fishing through the sound? I haven't been salmon fishing in over 10 years and am so looking forward to 'gettin back at it' . 10 years ago I would launch my 17' from Vanier Park and head to either the QA or West Van (depending on weather and what's hot). Now at Lions Bay with a 29' the larger seas don't bother me as much however gas consumpton does.

Picked up a bunch of springs at the T10 tons of prawns at Bowen and will only get better ,commercial crabbers are out in full force so there cleaning up the bottom pretty good.

Excellent!
Now here is where my lack of knowledge surfaces.

Where or what is the T10?

Thanks.

Glad to hear you are back on the water.
Watch the 'Vancouver' thread. Lots of current reports and good people hangin' there.

"Twin Mercs"... ouch!

T-10 is the marker down between north and south arms of the fraser
Welcome back

hey CCB ,how deep you fishing for prawns . I was out aroud passage in about 280' and didnt get many. Im thinkin deeper this time of the year as apposed to the winter ??

new to prawning here.. dropped a few traps outside bowen today around 300-330ft and got some in each but not too many either. Would love some tipss!

dwleo, happy fishing!

Going out saturday to a BBQ on one of the islands (remote access) and will drop crab traps that night. Putting out prawn traps on Sunday and do some fishing Anvil to Bowen.

Really don't care if the fish are there or not (well, it would be better if they showed up!) as this is the first time out fishing saltwater in over 15 years (approx) and the joy and solitude of it will be great!

Got out today and set two prawn traps on the east side of Gambier at 325 ft. 4 hour set gave me 30 prawns. Set them from low tide and pulled them just before high tide.
Going back tomorrow and give it a full 3 - 4 tide wait.
Also spent the four hours fishing. nada.
But the weather was beautiful and I really didn't mind the lack of fish - this time!
Is there anything in Howe Sound this ime of year. There were others fishing but being a weekday, not that many. Several at hole-in-the-wall though.
