I am playing around with some new airbrush techniques utilizing some new nearly indestructible finishes...comparing the coatings to others that exist on the market, I would call them long lasting & flexible - even after pounding them on bottom for weeks. My question is, what color combos would you like to see on minnow bodied baitfish styled jigs? I am thinking popular hoochie and plug colors. Ideas/thoughts??

Thanks,
DHA.

Blue and White.

@lordofthesprings,

I will be painting with a new pearlescent finish, as well as some other cool colored finishes. The compounds that my technician is mixing up for me will be pretty cool. I will get him to try holographic glitter similar to what we use in the finish of the glow UV cannon balls. I really like the new process...it has helped me bring my creative side back.

@FD,

The 4.0 TKO will be ready near the end of Jan - early Feb. I will have good stock of both 3.0 & 4.0 sizes. I will also, hopefully have my third and largest size samples from the new tooling to test and ensure that they are swimming the way I want them to. Your are in, as soon as they are... :)

Merry Christmas Felix - have an awesome one!

I am now experimenting with UV & scent impregnated into the base coating...should be interesting. Hhmmm...the first jig to have scent based coatings. Cool.

So what other colors suite your fancy? I am going to practice layering colors like found on Tomic plugs and hoochie patterns. Kind of exciting to play with...

Hi Rob,

Reds, blues and greens are all my go to's (as well as majority of people I would guess).... with that said that plug I got from you is probably the sexyiest thing dragged throught the water I've ever seen!!!! Can you match that pattern?

Pearl white/glow body,with thin GreyishBlack stripe along the top of the body nose to tail.

eyes are "outer circle"= glow, innercircle= black. The outer eye is 8.5 millimetre in diam. The inner eye is 6 millimetre.

These big eyes work better than small ones you get on store-bought.

I also have a jig that is all gold sparkle with pink slash marks up front and an off-white belly.

This thing will often catch fish when all else fails for some reason. (ECVI).

This year I also had good results with splatterback green. The body is green but if you look closely the splatter is often dark blue.

That got me to thinking......is it the splatter that turns them on?......If so why not try other splatter color combos.

So I made some splatterback red and some splatter back blue and several others.

-------------------------

Also.......jigs and spoons with "parr" marks on them, holographically overlaid on the body etc. I did this with ArmyTruck spoon using Copper holo parr marks....and also on metallic blue 50/50 chrome spoon using holo silver fishscale for "parr' marks".
I also like the new paints they have now where you turn the item one way and it is one color ....then when you turn it another way the color changes again.
Many juvenile fish with parr marks on them get eaten by salmon and other fish.

orange sp(l)atter on yellow glow, like the og139r hootchie. 2" 1 oz would be deadly for kokanee jigging. Anyone ever jig for sockeyes? I just started jigging for kokanee this year and it's quite addictive and productive. Got some in the smoker now.

@tubber,

Jigging for sockeye is a blast, we have done that off and on through out the years in Port Alberni. I hung out with some of the pioneers who perfected the technique from back in the day. It is a simple act, with the only requirement being good numbers of stacking fish. We primarily use 40 to 80 gram minnow bodied jigs with a white or glow main body color and a secondary dark overtone. My jig profiles work very well - but the local favorite is called a Budzilda, which was made by Bud Schmidt(spelling?). I still have about 200 or so of his blanks... :)
