Expensive Fish.

I was in Vancouver this week and picked up an order of exotic Chilian Sea Bass (tooth fish) fillets for a friend. I had Chilian Sea Bass once in Maui at Momma's Fish House and it was great and very mild flavor and soft texture but a 4oz meal was very expensive. I guess it is not easy to find a fish monger who sells it because it is highly regulated and caught at 1000ft to 12,000ft deep and at the Antarctica shelf.

I picked up at Longliner Sea Foods and I just about dropped dead when I paid for 5.7kg $898.. He gave me a fillet to try ($89) and it is for dinner tonight.

Pretty sure that's cheaper than some of the fillets buddy and I split when we only catch one fish! Hope it's good

When you take boat, boathouse, maintenance, gas insurance etc into consideration, I pay an average of $15,000 per salmon. Not to be outdone, halibut and lingcod are worth infinity dollars.

Black cod is better IMO.
A lot cheaper. Even cheaper when I get some free from my buddy.

I’d rather eat brill I get for free
