Elton John at Rogers Arena

Saw him in Victoria a couple years ago.
band was good, Elton spent most of the concert
seated at the piano.
Great music, visually a little boring.

Saw some video live from the concert last night and was surprised how strong his voice was and how much I enjoyed hearing it; in an age where older performers like Joni Michell, Paul Simon & Emmylou Harris just embarrass themselves on stage EJ still is worth listening to.

Elton was still strong on the vocals, but Joni Mitchell had a brain aneurysm in 2015. Walking and talking were a struggle for her for years even til now.
 
I've seen Elton four times starting in the mid 80s. He's a true entertainer, more than just a musician. Still blows my mind that he and Bernie kept music and lyrics separate all these years.
 
I saw him Vegas a few years back. During his last song he allowed those in the front row to stand around his piano. One guy decided he was going to put his hands on Elton. Poor decision. Eltons security through the guy into a full Nelson then slammed his head into the piano as he was dragged across the stage in front of 4000 people. Elton continued to play Your Song flawlessly as if nothing ever happened.
 
it’s a zoo downtown tonight. Canucks home opener, Elton John, numerous protests blocking most downtown main streets. Go early and on skytrain if possible.
 
yup... Left edmonton at 2:30am in the morning grab my wife off the ferry and Saw Sir Elton... 3rd time for me include Victoia And Vegas..Millionth for my wife :)

Couldn't agree more. We went Friday and my wife mentioned how impressive it was for a 75yr old to sing and play for 2.5 hrs and do all over again the next night. The band really cooked playing Love Lies Bleeding. Great show!
