Electric outboard…. Anybody use one?

I use to use a 27 pound thrust Minn kota electric motor, powered by a 12 vold deep cycle battery, on my 12 foot aluminum in the ocean. It was great because I only mooched and didn’t have to go very far.

Does anyone use electric now?

I have a Minn Kota Trolling Motor => MK55-EM Engine-Mount, on my 17 Foot Larson for Fly Fishing. It's mounted onto the cavitation plate of the 100 HP Mercury Outboard, and basically hidden from view. I've had it for ages, and it still surprises people when I "silently" go trolling by. Lots of comments on how that's the quietest outboard they've ever (not) heard. 🥹:D

my buddy has a MinnKota bow mounted on his florida style bay boat. it’s unreal. it has a gps spot lock on it which acts as an anchor. he launches boat with no ropes bumpers or anything. he uses motor to drive away from the dock and it just hovers there while he parks his truck. also keeps the lines vertical while jigging in our strong CR currents. it deploys on its on. We call it “ the R2 unit” ( star wars nerds will get it)

I just spent 10 days trolling around St Mary’s lake on Salt Spring with the cheapest Minkota they sell. Silent trolling is awesome.

I would love an electric outboard to replace my gas kicker on my 16 ft boat. If the price point comes down and I can get say 4 to 6 hours of trolling time I would be all in. Silent trolling with no fumes is great. I have debated between a bow mounted motor and kicker. Bow mounted would be cool as it would tie to my hds live and follow contour lines and tracks with auto pilot.
