Yep, I'm starting a Edmonton Oilers thread. If the blackhawks get a thread, then I see no reason why a good Canadian team like the Oilers don't deserve one.

I'm a Canucks fan and have been since a little lad, but I always held a place for the Oilers.

What a game tonight. The refs were idiots but the goaltending and players were entertaining. And how about that dirty russian, Yakupov, and his goal celebration!

Anyways, Dog F@cker, I mean Fog Ducker, come join the fun of cheering on another CANADIAN team.

Forget about Boston, Chicago, NY, Dallas, blah blah blah......

2-1 in OT with Edmonton winning. A goal by Edmonton late in the 3rd was disallowed and the fans littered the rink. Beer all over the time keepers..... The Yakupov got a goal with a few seconds left to put them into OT.

lol ,,,down with the flu...
ya watched the game between bathroom sprints , power trip show with the refs ,
at the end it worked out for the good guys , anyone that watched the game ,
did ya feel the buzz , every fan was into it , you can tell somthing special is brewing for sure ,might not be this year , but many years ta come !!
its almost like the torch is being past on to the new generation , hopefuly the new rink doesnt turn it into a Corperate chit show like here in Van and many other cities, Edmonton still has REAL hockey fans that really know the game , and most of there fans, can name at least 4 players on there team lol..

I don't think problem is getting the talent it's keeping it ..if you are a star in the NHL that can make bank some where else your not going to stay in Edmonton ,look at the talent that has left in the past..I think they should have traded 1 or 2 of there 1st rounders for some defense .... Whitney is ready to fall apart and there is just to much riding on a rookie like Shultz

until these players are developed , why bring in the big guns ,there will be trades , there will be free agents always available ta fill the holes , time !!! there will be players leaving looking for better money , there will be players signing discount contracts to enjoy the ride !! its a part of the game , have you any clue of the oilers depth in young-ins right now , its insane ,someone said there a one line team , smoke another one , maybe the canucks do , on sum nights lol...
in years past , players didnt want to be in Edmonton , the new young superstars and guys like Ryan Smyth are making guys " Wanting" to be there , trust me , these guys are here for a while,,,especially with the new arena , which is state of the art , best of everything ,

Have you lived in Edmonton? , you think players are going to want and stay there because of a new arena ?ya that worked for Toronto didn't it ,hey I wish them the best really I like a lot of there players but this depth thing you are talking about I just don't see it at the blue line ...signing free agents will be tuff but time will tell
 
The biggest question mark regarding this team is the goaltending. Just my opinion. I do hope Dubynk is able to perform consistently.

They looked great tonight. Took care of the avalanche with ease. Looked much better than the Canucks, that's for sure.
