ECVI French Creek/Nanoose

Ya its far from what I'm used to. I don't think I've ever hooked a spring deeper than 120' and probably don't fish deeper than 100' more than several times for a three month season, fishing every day up around malcolm. Its definitely more difficult to follow structure, especially in a headwind, and take note of where the bottom deviates from what the chart plotter tells. Anyways if I get another shot hear I'll post.

im headed out tomorrow either fish gerald/ballenas or out fingers way will post results tomorrow fingers crossed for some tight lines!

well we had some success yesterday we went 3 for 3 off the fingers boating 2 keepers and letting an undersize go keepers were 10 and 14 lbs managed to pick up some prawns and crab as well, fishing deep and using the same set up dudds talked about yesterday with most action comeing on the 3 inch green/glow spoon.

Lots of luck with the prawns now that the commies are out[xx(] Last year their season was so long that they fished-out their normal holes then fanned out to every slot they could find. Not much left after they were done.

Fish seem to be smaller this year and thinned out a bit.Heard of alot of skunks.Did see a very very nice fish landed but i have only been hitting teeners and smaller.

Finally a salmon on the new license!!! Landed an 18lb hatchery at Sangster today on Bushy's boat. was supposed to work on the new boat but decided to fish instead. Did manage to get the kicker on and hopefully the downriggers tomorrow. Gotta have it ready for the Bearded Clam and his wife on the weekend. BRS

Hey bigredsnapper had some buddies of your out haly fishing today great guys who are welcome back anytime and they are haly magnets to.
I think there headed your way for a wedding in the am.

Hey Bananas, I'm havin hali for dinner, thanks for takin out the boys. They had nothin but good things to say about you and your operation. The young guy still has a sore arm from the 65lber!! Kelly, there's always fish around this time of year and it's a long weekend, get your butt over here. The maiden voyage for the new boat will be Sunday night and Monday. I have my buddys from the mountains here and they have hali but they need some salmon to take home. Still haven't mounted the downriggers but the electronics and wiring are all done. Still gotta cover the hole in the floor too, way better than that huge doghouse that took up all the room. Call me on the cell or stop by and see her, I'm off Sat. night til Thurs. BRS

Hey greg headin outta the country till june 17th but will be back to fish that weekend. Good luck on the first trip! Throw lots of pics up of the new rig shell be a fishing machine. Charlie said he hit a fish last week on that yellow/black/glow splatter back. It looks real fishy!

Well finally got the boat moored at schooner for a while. Went out Saturday afternoon and dragged a couple of lures around without success. Saw one fish caught so they are there. Went out this morning but missed the bite, a few boats out there, same luck as yesterday. Will head out for the evening bite and try ballenas.

Picked up a couple near Gerald Sat am (18 & 10). Only heard of 1 other that morning. Skunked this am. Only heard of 1 caught in the am.

Finally launched the new rig and got a 10lb spring. Not big but didn't get skunked on the maiden voyage. Ran down to Schooner Cove to fill up and it was blowin SE pretty good and she handled it no prob. Lots of power with the Yamaha 225 not sure yet on fuel consumption, I'll fill her up again next time and do the math. Headed over to Winchelsea where we picked up the 10lber on hootchy(Thanks Kelly). Went for lunch and a hike on South Winchelsea then trolled Gerald and Ballenas and nothing. Was a good day with good friends. Was nice to have the "bearded clam" on board with his bro and sweetie for the maiden voyage. A few bugs to work out but I'm very happy with everything. Thanks to Doug and Dennis and Breakers in Port for a job well done, you guys are great!!!BRS

hey guys was wondering if the fishing was starting to warm up out in front of french creek an area back till wedsenday may go wet a line or two ...

Went to French Creek for a couple hours yesterday and no salmon. There was tons of bait top to bottom everywhere. We managed a couple of slimy Pacific Cod which we didn't even see hit and were probably on too long. The tide was rippin and didn't seem to let up over slack. Was happy with the boat, I was runnin late and opened her up for a little bit and got over 40mph and comfortable. I'm just doin the floor so I'll post some pics next week. BRS

Managed to sneak out last night after the wind dropped. Had two pin poppers but I was a little slow on the taking. Did manage one more and boated a beauty 16lb spring. Down 160-190. Great entertainment when fishing solo and leaving the net and gaff at home.
