Just drove to CR from Courtenay and saw quite a large school jumping off oyster bay! Kind of wished I was in a tin boat with my spinning rod. Go get em!

Been a while since we've seen Bill Luscombe here!

Been in and out. Mostly just watching for repots on the beach fishing for salmon... I don't like driving 2 hours just to find no fish. :-)

Absolutely no coho here at King Coho by the Little River Ferry Terminal. No fish being caught and no fish showing. Either they are very late this year or not coming at all. Took a drive up to Oyster Bay, I didn't see anything jumping and didn't see anyone fishing! Where are they?

The fish I saw yesterday were off the beach just south of the rest area. There were 2 decent sized schools jumping in the shallows about 100yds apart. I noticed them as I drove by and pulled over to watch them for about 10 mins. There was one tin boat fishing. The report came from a guy I saw in Tyee marine today who saw coho caught off salmon point yesterday. The report seemed good to me as I had just watched a bunch of fish jumping north of there on the same day.

THEY ARE HERE!!!
A buddy and I started just north of Black Creek this morning, saw a few jumpers, key word "few", then up to the mouth of Oyster River, walked down and fished the north side along the old UBC farm, from the beach, up to next point just south of Salmon Pt.,4-5 boats up there and LOTS of jumpers, just a little to far off the beach for me to fly cast to.
Saw one fellow in a tin boat hit,but lost,a nice Coho,
the river is chalked full,in certain pools, with pinks and coho, also cutties jumping all over,

fish on for me today,1 small sole,(released)and one long distance release Coho(nice fight for about 20 seconds)while my buddy is on his cell phone;)

What kind of fly would you use for that? I'm interested in tying a few up and trying it tomorrow or the next day.

today I was using a beadhead handlebar fly, in pink or blue

I plan on being at the estuary on the saltwater side friday aft if you're around come say hello. I'll be the one in the canucks hat that looks like he hasn't flyfished in 2+ years. BTW are you using a floating or sinking line? I have a tip system for my rod so I have options.

I work Friday, but have next 4 days off after that, was planning on heading up to Quatsino but now my plans might be changing, not sure?...

maybe some one else on here could give a few "better" choices for saltwater Coho flys, but on Wed. the Coho were more concerned with jumping and teasing me/us than feeding...my friend was chucking everything BUT the kitchen sink at them...nice to see them there in #s

I'll P.M. you if I'm heading up that way...cheers

p.s. I was using a sink tip
