Drain Plug - Inside or Outside?

Ok GLG, you were with me when I bought my boat. It was desided that it was easier to put the plug in on the out side then to get get down on our knees and put the plug it..Right? Sure it was nice and it was easy...Yes

Went out one day and we started to take on water over the arse end on my boat that you know very well. The bilge pump would not turn on... Where was my plug on the out side of my boat. What did I do to save the lifes of other member of this forum and my own life? I went over the arse end and pulled the plug. climbed back in and put the boat in gear.... What have I done to fix this problem? Plug is now on the inside of my boat and in the near future I will have a second bilge pump that will plug into a 12v power supply.

Safety First.....

Oh my that's not good.
Glad it worked out for you and you didn't drown when you went over the side.
At least now you have easy access to the hole back there.
Second pump is a great idea and perhaps it's time I got one too.

So I guess the answer is depends on the boat.

Inside or outside for you Dave?

I have a threaded plug and it's on the outside. Never coming undone. If it does, I have a back up on board.
