Downrigger line hookup

Hello, I just changed my downrigger line from steel to dacron and I seem to have a problem using stacked lines. The usual clips don't seem to hold on dacron. They slide up. I like to be able to run more then one release clip line on a single downrigger. Appreicate any input.

Last year we switched one of our riggers from Stainless wire to braid and had the same problem. When you tensioned the rod line, the release clip would slide up the rigger line. So we bought some of the auto stop beads (for Braid) and put one above each release clip and it worked fine. If any one else has another solution, love to hear it.

Use the RED stoppers, they are designed for use on braid. Some folks use superglue to glue them in place, but I have found that mine don't move so I have left them allone.

Cheers

I tie a swivel of the appropriate size(so it goes through the guides and pulley) onto the braid and then I put 200 lb mono below that to a snubber and then the ball. Always stops where it's supposed to and the release clips hold onto the mono really well-better than braid. Gone fishing sells 200 lb mono it 10 ft lengths.

for the beads I put 2 of the red one together stops that as for the release clips I put a chunk of surgical tubing on the metal part of the release clip that goes on the braided line and that works

We use a section of ganjion line and tie in s/s ball bearing swivel which acts as the stop, then at the cannon ball end tie in a smaller s/s clip (same as clips for release clips only smaller size). Each time she comes up the swivel triggers the stop and you tie the length to match where you want the cannon ball to end up. I like them long so the ball stops just below the waterline to prevent it from swinging into the side of my boat while offshore fishing. For my second stackable clip I use surgical tube, that usually stops them from sliding up. You can adjust tension on the line by bending the clip out a bit to increase friction...shazam.

I use Scotty Downrigger Line and Scotty Red Stoppers... OH and Scotty release clips..

I have no problems. Just blow back.

Only time I have problems is with my clips if someone use braided line in my clips, my mono will not stay in them afterwards. Braided line kills release clips if used with mono afterwards.

FA- I always run approx 30 ft. of mono off the end of the braided. Not my idea, picked it up off my guide buddies. Works great, remember to use a suitable knot.

Also- I only have a stacked release clip slippage issue if I try to pull the line off the clip. I have generally learned theres no or minimal advantage to stacked lines where I fish, however if I do, I will bring the assembly up on the downrigger and release it manually.

Thanks for the replies but, using the red stop clips stops my downrigger for retrieving my line but, I guess it's no big deal to just start th retrieve again. Hope you all had a good holiday and Happy New Year to all and may you all land loads of fish.
