Done fishing

Well, I guess my fishing is done for the season. :( The crank broke on my power plant and with all the extra expenses with wifey undergoing treatment, I probably won't be able to afford to repair it for a while. Anyone in this area facing a similar engine problem may want to see my post elsewhere on this site, as this problem was created by shoddy workmanship by a local company.
Since I am down hard anyway, maybe it's time to explore converting to an outboard, although I suspect that the cost would be prohibitive considering the age of the boat.

Too much water, too little time

Sorry to hear about your boat. Where are you located, I don't mind taking you out for a few trips. We've all been there, nothing more disappointing than the boat going down for the summer.

Good luck with the boat.

Can likely get you out for sox here between charters if your interested...

Bad news on the rig! I'd sue those Idjuts! ;)

Cheers,
Nog

Sorry MiChica, I'm on the mainland in Vancouver. I couldn't remember if you were an Island guy, or from this side of the strait. The offers still open if your over this way. Best of luck to you.

There's some real good guys on this forum. I'm sure you won't end up spending the whole summer on shore. A couple of the good pros here have already kindly offered to help out. It's nice to see the good guys can still be found to help a fellow angler.

Good on ya guys.

Thanks all, I appreciate the offers! I'll try to tough it out for a while, maybe I'll win a lottery and get me a new boat...:D
The only good thing about this is that I get few opportunities to fish at the moment with ill wife and a teen that seems to need constant ferrying around. The bad thing, of course, is that I get few opportunities to get out. I do admit that every time I look at the boat, I grit my teeth. If I had any luck the d_ _ _n thing would have caught fire and burned to the waterline. [:o)]

I wish I could offer the same. Mi Chica... what goes around comes around. Sorry to hear about your motor... that sucks man [V]
Its hopefully only a year (least thats what I tell myself). Take care of your family and hopefully it will come back to you.
Wish you all the best with your current situation and that the most important things will come through [8D]
Sendin some good luck vibes from down here mang

Chica,

What engine (& model year) are you running?
Are you certain it's a crank and or, only the crank?

Cheers,
Terry

Mercruiser 140 & gen 1 leg, late 70's. I haven't pulled it and torn it down yet, but crank, shells, mains pretty much guaranteed. Time to win a lottery and get a new(er) boat. [:o)]

Merc 140? well, if you look around, there are deals to be had. Especially from someone who left water in the block over winter and it cracked. I bought a 3.0 that had freeze damage for 200 bucks, complete with alt and starter and all. It was just fine besides the head so i rebuilt it for a spare. I think, i will have to check, a 3.0 will bolt right in to your setup. If you want me to find out, let me know. Those motors are quite friendly to work on. If you need some help, let me know,i have had mine apart a few times.
