Dog shark woes

Kitty Hump today. Caught more Dog Sharks than anything. Didn't seem to matter what or at what depth. Anyone else or am I just lucky? Not a one Salmon!

You are right WL, there is an unusual number of dogs around the hump this year. Unfortunately they seem to be drawn to same lures salmon like. But CL is right , a little faster does help but slowing and turning about does happen so catching dogs is normal… be careful of their adipose fin spike and good luck. I do find that short lead hootchies/flasher combos catch very few dogs, but spoons & plugs where I don't use flashers, catch the most dogs!!

Thanks folks, and I learned my lesson regarding their fin spike. Only blood on the boat was mine.....

Hope he didn't get you too bad. Those can definitely hurt and swell up until they heal.

Try trolling in the opposite direction when your catching species other than salmon. Utilize less bait and more artificial (spoons/hootchies) and it should help put more salmon to the net.
