Hey Guys,

Does anyone make there own bait with wet and dry cat food plus fish? I have also read that people will use veggies like potatoes skins and things like that. I live in the okanagan and it always seems we are behind or in a rush to get to the boat launch and we never have time to stop and buy stuff on the island. So any ideas of cat food and or some kind of bait I can make before we head out on our trip will making things a little easier!!!

Thanks
JAC

Buy the cheapest Tuna catfood that you can find.

The wet food I use is Carlyle tuna for cats or presidents choice seafood dinner and presidents choice dry food.
I smear the wet food around the bait cup and fill the center with the dry food and suspend the bait cup from the top of the trap.

I like one bait cup for wet. (Carlyle Tuna, Superstore noname seafood) And one bait cup dry. (prawn pellets etc.) Works for me.;) eman

You know those pesky sun fish that you find in your crab pots all the time? Dry them out for a few days and chop them up and stuff them in your bait cups. Works great along with a squirt of ace of baits brawn scent. Once you get going its a self sufficient bait supply. The prawn heads for crab bait and the sun fish from the crab pots for prawn bait.

last time out used Carlyle cat food, dry dog food, and prawn heads. got 300 in one pull of four traps. however most of the time I use whatever can get my hands on, pet food, chicken, pepperoni, garlic, herring, prawn heads, fish tails.... etc.... haven't really nailed down what works best. I think the stinky'r the better!
