I wonder how many folks still use dodgers and, if so, in what applications?

I have quite a few old dodgers in all shapes and sizes, some still in the package. These were passed on to me or collected with other gear. Most are nickle plated Luhr Jensen models. A few are Gibbs; a couple of 6" in brass/nickle called "#3 Herring Dodger" look interesting. I probably have about two dozen in all, but I've been using the plastic flashers, all in the standard size (about a foot?).

So are my old, metal dodgers just souvenirs, or do they still have their uses?

And does size matter? <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Remember, it's called "fishing," not "catching."

Yes! Use them behind a plug cut, they slide side ways, they dont rotate. They have good action for a hootchie.

thanks the runt

Polish them up real good and hang them in your fruit trees to keep birds off when the fruit ripens.

Had one polished up real good and mounted on my boat's dashboard. Great for watching the rods when I'm alone and steering boat through the crowd or seaweed patches.

Dodgers work terrific for me on Coho out of Tofino and ok at tide lines out of Sooke. Wherever there are lots of fish. I've tried them deep on Springs, even adding glo strips but no luck.
I'm like you. Alot of hand me downs. Sometimes I haul out and try some of that old stuff just because the old timers that gave it to me caught fish like hell.
