Heading to Prince Rupert area for a few days next week and was hoping to get the kids fishing in the ocean. Not sure if there are any spots allowed from shore? Anyone know of any places to drop a line of any of the docks?
Kids are 15 yrs and 3 yrs old, so anything they catch will be great for excitement...

Possibly looking for a 1/2 day charter for the wife and two kids as well so any recommendations would be appreciated...?

Thanks in advance for any information...

Not too sure about Rupert but lots of River shore options in Kitimat and Terrace. I'd be calling the Home hardware/tackle and guiding in Kitimat. In Terrace there are a couple tackle shops you can contact. In both towns there are a ton of guides if you want get onto the water. Good luck!!

x2 Report from a buddy is that the Skeena is fishing very well right now. Lots of bar fishing locations between Rupert and Terrace. Bonus of bar fishing is if kids get bored they have a large bar to play on. Can also put out lighter rods with bait to catch pike minnows and trout, have a beach fire and bbq, etc. If dad happens to hook a big spring that the kids can help land, bonus!!

Cheers!

Excellent, Thanks guys for the replies...

I was also told that there is public fishing allowed off a couple docks in Prince Rupert as well... Rushbrook was one and I forget the other... but I'll find it... lol

Just want to give them a taste of the area before taking my big boat up there for the Douglas Channel excursions next year...
(Spring 2017... here I come....)

Thanks again...

As mentioned by everyone else, lots of places to fish the river if your equiped for it. The skeena was lights out this past weekend but your going to fighting a crowd right now. You might be able to put a line in the salt at Rushbrook or Port Ed in Rupert. You'll be lucky to even get a call back when trying to get a guide out Rupert right now as its prime time for springs but Steve Hardy from Deep Spings charters would be a good guy to talk to. If he cant take you out, he will probably know someone who can.

Hey "Ruff"

sent you a message... or I guess its called a "conversation" on here... Definitely interested in talking to you more about Kitimat /Prince Rupert areas....

Thanks.

Drive 95 km east from Rupert, there are several bridges along highway 16 for the road and for the railway that runs parallel to the road. The bridges cross tributary rivers of Exchamsiks, and Kasiks. There is also China Bar in the same area. It is a gravel bar in the Skeena river that you can see from the highway. There will be dozens of trucks, campers, picnic tables, and locals in various stages of recline watching their rods and drinking beer waiting for the bite on their spin-n-glow set ups. Be wary of the tide charts because if you drive onto the bar, you might not get back until low tide. If you get stuck as the tide is coming in, your vehicle will get washed to sea, 95km downriver. No joke. It happens every year. With small kids, try Kasiks with a mid-to large sized spinning outfit 20+lb test and "kitimat" or "coho" spoons about2 inches long, silver with red/pink/blue/green on it. Cast out to the deep pools. Bring lots of lures and spare line, because you will lose lures on sunken trees.
