So, DFO is using taxpayer $ for industry PR work AGAIN. Shouldn't that be up to the industry?

You don't even want to know how much auaculture science research at DFO's Biological station is funded by the aquaculture industry.... and how much federal salmon enhancement funding has disappeared.

Totally disgusting how our taxpayer funded DFO is in bed with the unsustainable and environmentally damaging net pen fish farm industry!!!

Complete conflict of interest as the Cohen Commission reported - yet DFO doesn't care as they only listen to their political masters, who in turn only listen to the foreign owned corporations that donate to their political parties - total corruption at the expense of our environment and wild salmon!!!

Need to get these things onto the land where their negative impacts can be better contained and managed.

Still have good old Dr. Marty putting the right or left spin on things but with what GLG posted the other day I don't think the status quo of industrial fish farming in open net cages in the ocean will be allowed too much longer. The natives are getting restless and in this regard I think they will save the Iconic Wild Salmon runs from being wiped out by insisting they move thier operations on land. Denmark is already moving this way.
