Heading to saanich inlet this weekend,dip my prawn traps in, is there a specific depth to drop them this time of year or is 250' okay
 
Just look for the masses of bouys.

As for where to drop your traps... You don't have to be around the other bouys. Look for 180-220 feet edge of a slope but not on a jagged bottom. You may find your own hunny hole.

Seems to work for us.

Tips.
 
I find that in the inlet, anything much more than 220 and you'll be hauling up the traps loaded with those little squat lobsters. That's been our experience, besides we load up just fine at those depths and it's easier to haul them by hand.
