Curious if any of the fine sooke members on here would be interested in trading a day of sooke fishing for a day of vancouver fishing. Wife has good friends in sooke we will visit in the next few weeks and she would like to see what the fishing scene is like there as we may bring our boat over at some point. Actually she is pretty interested in buying property in sooke. We would pay for all the gas and we have a 07 trophy 2359 and fish out of vancouver 3 days a week so know how to get into fish.

If you don't find what you are looking for, check out the rental boats in Pedder Bay. They are an excellent deal, only 17.50 per hour for a 16' hourston or 22.50 per hour for a 16' double eagle. I've rented from them many times, it's a great location to start from for fishing and you won't find a cheaper rental in the area.

That's what I do, leave my boat in the lower mainland and just rent out of pedder bay.

Cheers

Just drive your boat around the other side and rent a place to stay. Cheaper than the god damn ferry I do it a couple of times a year. Sometimes I sleep right on the boat in Pedder

Sooke is a beautiful place to call home & fishing is well renowned

But if the quake hits that is the side of the breakwater...............This is why I will not live in Ditchmond

Hey PAT How long of a run is it, I know your boat rockets, mine cruises at 26 mph or so. Is it pretty straight forward, furthest I have ventured is Gabriola which is no problem in most weather conditions as we go often often april to june. We camp out on the boat no problem and have places to stay in sooke. Was hoping to get a good in with a local to the sooke fishing scene there.

DM If you cruise over. Moorage is great at the Sooke Harbour Resort. Check out their website. I've stayed there several times. Close to Beechy and Otter (20 minutes or less).

It would probably take ya a couple of hours at that speed, once your across the straight and in the Gulf Isl. its an easy cruise down to Oak Bay, Trial Island and beyond can be hairy if the wind is blowing on a flood tide, You can hit Oak Bay Flats, Coyote Bank, or Constance for hali on the way, If the weather blows up on you, you can duck into Oak Bay Marina, Vic Harbour, Pedder Bay,Race Passage can be a nightmare if conditions are ugly, (sp) Chenah Marina, and then Sooke is just beyond that.
