I would go with a KUFA shimano convergence replica, I have a couple and they are awesome! fight fish well with lots of backbone and dont explode on you atleast not on me.
I emailed the company very early on and talked to them about reel seats and they replaced rods for me. Seemed like Great customer service everything was very quick! Might be worth a shotI agree with you about the reel seats. I've got one of the earliest ones where the cork spins and the reel seat doesn't stay tight, but the newest version has a much improved reel seat and double locking collars.
I was at Gone Fishin Duncan this morning and looked at the R3EF mooching rods. They still have the 9’ and 10’6” mooching rods for $159.97 and $189.97 respectively but they also have a new upgraded model of 10’6” mooching rod for closer to $300 (I can’t remember if it was $289 or $299 now but they are definitely looking to get a piece of that market as well).Everything that becomes popular goes up with fishing rods. These are by far the best up and comer rod.
Years ago it was the brown fenwick hmx that was 89 then 129 then 189 then garbage
Then it was the titans
Then the technium (still a good rod but expensive now)
And next will be the reef I bought a bunch of the current model which have updated reel seats the originals did have problems that is now fixed.
I have lots of Okuma's but I've also broken two of them over the last couple years. The tips seem to break pretty easy. But I keep going back for moreAnyone else fish the Okuma SXT's? I can't believe they don't get more love. The Alps reel seat on there is the best I've ever seen, has almost a rubberized coating on it and double locking so never loosens up.
I fish the Medium and absolutely love them.

What are you currently fishing? Love my techniums but they ain't cheap. Curious to know the comparison of feel of the two.I went with the Reef when they first came out, had issues with the reel seats spinning, glue would let go and spin on the rod. Returned them. Fished Techniums, and then went to the West Coast Fury, 4th design, like them and then bought Reefs again for back ups. The reel seats let go again, a year later, they gave me the newest version with the aluminum reel seats, they look good, haven’t used them.
The newest West Coast 9’ and 10’6” I’d stay away from, I’ve known numerous guys breaking them half way up the rods. They must have changed their material composition because mine have been good.
Would that be their own branding on the trophy rod? TM? I have that rod, but without Tyee Marine’s branding on it, and it is an excellent 9 foot rod. At that price I don’t see how you can go wrong.Tyee Marine in CR has 9ft TM 590 MHC downrigger rods for $99 .Great value. The only other rod that matched it for strength and price that I know of is the Shakespeare Ugly Stick
Currently the west coast fury’s from 2 years ago. I really like them, seem to be built with quality. What I like about them and the Reef is that you tighten the reel seat from the bottom, so you have the cork run all the way down to the top of the reel. Most others your holding the rod above the reel and your on the threads of the reel seat. What are you currently fishing? Love my techniums but they ain't cheap. Yes, It is. I have four of them . that I have bought over the last few yrs. Great for handing out to guests determined to lean over the gunnel to look at their fish before its in the net. The stuff high sticking breakage is made of.Would that be their own branding on the trophy rod? TM? I have that rod, but without Tyee Marine’s branding on it, and it is an excellent 9 foot rod. Maybe it's time to take it out backI'm still waiting for my old Lamiglass rods to die. 25 years and going strong
