Cutting down run time....Launching in Howe Sound...

So I have grand plans for winter chinook fishing. How much I will actually get out remains to be seen. But if I wanted to launch in Howe Sound, where should I go? Sunset? Lions Bay? Can a guy launch a 16'er at Porteau Cove?
I normally launch at Port Moody, which is pretty close to my place, but a long run just to get to Bowen especially if it's choppy.
Any thoughts?

Thanks
Trevor

Was literally just thinking of doing this exact same thing until I searched. Thanks for the post- will be watching.

Sunset often has zip for winter hours-erratic isn't strong enough a term.

Porteau-Yes but take a cant hook (and maybe a chainsaw) to deal with logs on the ramp.
Yeah.. the logs can be interesting... but launching and parking is freeeeeeeee

Guess I had not better complain about paying $40 for a seasons pass to launch locally in Comox area (NOT COMOX MARINA)

Only improvement they did this year was to grade the parking lot and remove the bomb craters ! Its still a mud launch unless its a very high tide so the concrete ramp area and dock can be used. BUT -- its protected from the wind. Campared to Kitty and Pt Holmes its worth it. The Union Bay store sells the annual passes or there is a single launch honour box of $5. ( and they do check ! LOL )
