Nice to see soom familiar faces there. I had hoped there would be more people. The West Coast is a looooonnng way from Ottawa (ever got on a plane to get there?) but we need them to hear us!

Just saw check 6 news.. It was GOOD . Finally I think we are getting our message across. Thanks to the organizers and everyone that spoke on our behalf!
Some how we need to get the message out that 5-6 $ a LB of your store bought halibut goes to some quota holder that does not fish, but collects a royalty from each fish caught, gifted to them by the government of Canada.

Good on you guys! I got the email late last night, and well with a more then full time job it was impossible for me to attend on such short notice.

Cheers All,

While we were a bit smaller in numbers than I had envisioned, it was good to see the sentiment and fever has not diminished. I made sure I attended inside the office to sign in and ensure that, even if Mr. Duncan was not in attendance, he was aware I was there and that I left a note for his consideration. I was impressed that there was a considerable amount of media and they were not doing prefunctory fillers but asked insightful and meaningful questions.

Good on you all for showing and for those who were unable - there will be a next time!

Dear Mr. Lunney,

The boys and I would like to stop by and have a chat...may we bring some signs? ;)

In anticipation of bigger and better yet to come...

Nice work boys. Gotta broken down rig and partner in crime Bod is still soaking up rays in Mehiho the ******* or we'd a seen you.

Thanks all who put this together.

I was glad to have been able to slip away from work and attend today.I was really glad to see so many of us non guide rec fishers there. It bodes well to show that this is not just about guides and lodges.

I watched the A News. Was not all bad. I do have to say though that they continue to make the outlying message seem like it is that sport fishers want more ,wen stocks are down. I wish that more attention would be put on the real issues of DFO continuing to make policy that puts the deep and ever deepening pockets first. I strongly feel we need to do more to make the public understand that the halibut fight is the cornerstone to finally getting DFO to start making policy that will be in the best interest of the resource and those who rely on it the most. Also that if we do not continue to fight and ultimately win ,it will set the tone for DFO to turn the entire ocean resource over to the very few. Ultimately shutting the rest of Canadians out from a fundamental right to pursue the sport of fishing on our ocean.

Was good to see everyone there today all the same though!
Cheers: Ray

thanks to all who made it on short notice....the message will keep coming cause we ain't buyin no F@#!*kin quota...we ain't going away.....bigger and better things to come.....

WAY TO GO BOYZ! Good work Gil organizing. Duncan's gone in the fall election. Deserves it too. He needs to spend more time listening and less time looking after the interests of a few of his Commie brothers.

Thanks Pat, missed the a-channel broadcast...too busy working on the boat hopefully it came across ok....have to wait till a-channel posts it on youtube....i heard the chek coverage was good.....the reporters were great and stayed to bs....the guy from chek was especially interested and by the time we were leaving he really understood our position and he asked some quality questions off camera. next time I think it will be better as he now gets it.....the comox valley record and echo are both running stories next edition....will post those too....one reporter is going to be talking to me about several things in the next week or so....should be VERY interesting to see where he goes snoopin around....i might just give him some clues hahahahah

here is the link to the chek coverage....click on "the cost of fish"

too funny , 2 piece halibut fish n chips $18.00......x4 for a family plus taxes close to $80.00.....wonder if the $5.50 real hali fishermen are paying to lease quota has anything to do with that.....

Outstanding work. That clip was very effective at getting our message across. Really appreciate the hard work that went into organizing this. Thanks for sharing. Maybe we need a new t-shirt campaign...big red letters:
