Yes-- about 740 summer chinook in the river and winters starting to swim in too. The hatchery guys will be swimming the river in the next day or so to do a count of fish below the hatchery. If nothing significant shows in the next week , it might be time to get concerned.
Alos FOC nailed a poacher snagging summer chinooks below the hatchery. Got him on multiple counts. All his fishing gear and CAR seized!! If you see any of these clowns on the river-- call the DFO office in Comox immediately
I will be out there Wednesday after lunch to fish on the incoming tide. I will be on ch 68 if anyone want's to chat.

You can look for me at King Coho fishing the shore tomorrow. The kids are in school so I'll be out hoping for something other than bull heads . Good luck to all!
Wow what a day! King Coho was great! I got there around 0930 and saw a guy catch a little Coho then after he left I pulled in a nice 12 lb Adipose Coho beautiful silver. Great day to be out on the water! Hope everyone had as much fun as i did!
PS just used a buzz bomb from shore.
Tortuga well done. I did here someone on the radio say something about the red bell. I did respond but no answer to my hail. Dang those fancy radio things. Going out again today and will try your spot, as all my spots are NFG. Will be on 68 and this time I will try harder, so if you are out there lets try again.
AA good for you. Hope you get a clipped one for the BBQ.

I was on the water off Goose Spit this morning, not fishing but just checking an engine repair to my boat. I noticed four boats out fishing. One guy had a spring on a anchiovie fished on the surface with a 6oz weight trolling early on. The other three had skunked at the time of asking. All this was AM. Dunno what was caught in the afternoon.
Hello again! Another great (but to short) day! Went out to Cape Lazo at high tide using the buzz bomb from shore. First cast</u> [:0] caught around an 8 lb hatchery Coho. Then last cast hooked a huge fish don't know what it was as it broke my line but I'll tell ya my reel was whizzing must have been at least 20 lb Oh well not bad for 1/2 an hour. Hope all was well for everyone!
Hey Flydon, if you're going to go to Cape Lazo I would highly recommend high tide. Otherwise King Coho at any time. I think the Coho must be coming in!!!
Sorry gallows still getting used to the local... When you go down to Kye bay instead of going on to the beach (by the park) turn right and go down to the end of that road. At high tide you are fishing right off the rocks. There is also a great "sand slide" for the kids to play on while you're fishing. I must have seen 20 fish jump out there while my wife was saying "Ok dear it's time to go">>>>> what do ya do?
I've been down there at low tide and it's quite shallow but it did help me tonight to know where the deep spots are at high tide. Both of the fish that I had on were in probably 5-10 of water.
Anything new to report about the Harbour? I went out to Lazo yesterday evening and saw quite a few boats out there. Absolutely nothing finning or jumping at Lazo.... SS
Was out today. It was slow for us. Hit one that felt like a 15lb, then it turned into a 150 pound seal. The seals are really bad. If you want to try, be prepared to lose your catch to a seal.
