comox boat ramp

I've just joined this site because I was reading about a members experiance at the comox ramp asking another boater for his ramp pass. Did you know the ramp was put in with volunteer labour and materials with the intention of it remaining free for all for ever? When the town first started to charge a fee they were asked about this they back tracked and came up with the lanch is free but you have to pay to park. I note it now says lanch/park. Now I'm not cheap but I'm getting sick of paying for rec centers tennis courts [their free] and all the other pet projects out there but no free ramp. I guess user payer only applies to some things. So I will lanch for free and park my rig in front of the town hall.

Sweet.... You're un-banned Owen :D

Now that we have high jacked your thread sorry

Have a look through the board.... You are not the only one feeling the frustration. I can't speak first hand on the Comox ramp as I am on the bottom of the Island, but the same stuff happens here too...

I was at the Kitty ramp today and it was plugged with cedars from the storm. Who maintains that ramp? Its starting to look a little worn.

NO ONE!

I dont think anyway. It could be about 10 degrees steeper that forsure. haha or i could just get a real tow vehicle. I think someone has a pic of me up over my back tires in my jeep launching in a low tide.

Yea there is a few locals that clear the trees with their tractor.
Might have to wait for them to get at it.
Members from this board also clear logs if there not to big.
I think FA has some tool he uses to skid them off the ramp.
I have pulled a few with my truck and chain but after a storm you will have to wait for the tractor.
The ramps old but they fix the potholes from time to time so that's good.
Wish it was better? yup but I don't think they have the dough for a new one.
