Cleaning Bare Aluminum Hulls

I try to keep my aluminum cc looking good. I have tried many products-most require hard work and/or don't work all that well Star Bright from amazon worked ok but is pretty expensive. Heard about a NAPA product called Aluminum cleaner part# AQP8252.Canadian product. Gave it a try and it is cheap and very effective. 4 7.39 for a gal. Ment to be diluted and sprayed on with a spray bottle and flushed with a hose. Because I am in a garage now I painted it on with a 2 to1 dilution wiped it off with multiple wet rags. Trailer and floor were protected and of course gloves and eye protection needed. Did a great job. Best yet and not so labour intensive and would have been great outside with a spray bottle and hose

alumabrite is what has been my go to.

read the MSDS with what ever your using... lots are hydrofluoric acid. a good family friend almost lost his hand, had calcium IV , cardiac issues as the acid eats the bones from the inside out.
at the very least make sure you have good chemical gloves!

Good idea and if you use a spray bottle a mask at the very least.

During the fishing season I usually wash my boat with dish soap and a fine green Scotch Brite scrubbing pad and to prevent the oxidation that usually happens over the winter when my boat is not being used I rub it down with some WD40. Never tried the acid based cleaners just due the chemicals involved.

During the season I just wash with fresh water soap and brush-I bring out the serious cleaner just before it goes to bed for the winter.
