Christmas 2025

Snowing like hell & sticking here in Port!
Was hoping for a White Christmas, but sincerely doubted it would happen.
Sometimes we actually get what we hope for!!

Merry Christmas Folks!

Season's greetings, happy holidays and Merry Christmas to all from the Tyee Spit.

May 2026 be much better than this year has been.

Bad back during Tyee season plus the loss of three good and long-time friends this year made it a bad one for me.

Turns out when you turn 80 your circle of friends gets smaller and smaller.

Who knew? LOL

Anyway, all the best to all of you going forward with tight lines and big shiny fish in your future.

Take care.

Tradition

We had another great Christmas hosted by my brother and his wife, serving a deep fried Turkey with a delicious blackened rub. My nephew did a traditional roast Turkey and an amazing Peppermint cheesecake for dessert and of course we had all the fixins for an amazing Christmas dinner. All of it reminded me that in spite of many challenges we face throughout the year, we are still blessed to be surrounded by amazing family and friends. I appreciate you being part of this great community and all your contributions to it. I hope you had a great Christmas and wish you all the best for 2026.

Brian

Here is a picture of the deep fried roast beast.

I don’t post on the food thread because I’m nowhere near the cook most of you guys are. But thought I’d share here, just for fun:

Howe Sound spot prawn cocktail
Roast turkey
Maple butter slow-cooked carrots
Roasted Brussels with bacon and shallots and maple balsamic glaze
Baked sausage stuffing
Mashed potatoes au gratin
maple cranberry sauce
Steamed Christmas pudding with Hard sauce and custard cream

And a gratuitous photo of the tree after the teens (finally) disappeared to their rooms so Santa could come, because I think it’s a pretty pic that captures the peace of a quiet, happy house on Christmas Eve.

I hope you all had a very merry one and wish you the best in the coming year.

That’s a great looking spread!
I’d like to encourage you to post in the food threads. It’s one of my most looked at sections, it’s a good place (sometimes) to get new meal ideas.
