Chinook Classic

Is anyone in or following the Chinook Classic derby. Just wondering if anyone has any news or results of fish checked in yet?

Day 1 just ended @ 4 pm. Day 2 tomorrow. Largest fish after Day 1 is 25.87 pounds. 2nd place is low twenties. 3rd place is 19.8. Lbs or something like that. Something tells me someone is going to catch a $25000 fish tomorrow.

dammit! I should have entered! got a nice low to mid twenties fish at sandheads today. :) I've gotta think there will be a few bigger fish caught tomorrow.

38.6 lbs with half hour+ to go,
we were on the leader board at 3rd all afternoon till that pig hit,
finished 4th just out of the money
nice fish never the less

Thanks for the update.
You must have been on pins and needles in the last couple hours.
There is always next year

Yep definitely, 3rd was not a comfortable spot to be in with a 25.0 lber we knew it could get beat anytime as we were into a few biggies in the dyeing hours with one giving us a huge run, almost melting a mr2 and a snapped mainline,
Would like to have seen that one, if anyone sees a green flasher with an ace hi swimming around out there take a picture of the beast for us will you LOL
but all that being said how about the guy leading all day sat and sun thinking he had the 25k fish only to Drop to 2nd,
still walked with 10k but....gotta sting a little.
All said and done it was a great weekend, we fished hard we were extremely happy to even make it to the leader board, food was incredible, great prizes, and met a lot of very nice people,
and made a few more friends,
Jason asked if we would be back next year and with no hesitation I said he'll ya!
Now to start planning our attack strategy

I know the guys who got 2nd...and I'll tell ya Hans and Laurie deserved that $10000.

The worst part of the whole weekend for me not entering the derby, regretting it all weekend...and me saying where the winning fish was going to be hooked before the derby started, taking a phone call on Friday from Jason T asking WTH I was and why my name wasn't on the registration....and then finding out that the winning fish was caught there. I wanted to jump off the upper deck of the Celebration on Water last night.

Nice meeting a few forum members again last night.

I already have Myself booked for next year.

See y'all next year...

Hey FM,
OUCH is right considering we missed the money by I think it was .4 of a pound..... litterally oz's
also I missed the damn 50/50 by 1 number too ffs, I think JT put it best in saying "man! you guys were just a little off today" lol I think we were just a little outa-line haha (pun intended)

I did come and chat with ya for a bit, you were already talking to my deck partner Rich was going to formally introduce, but I think we were all a little distracted, (damn splash girls eh lol) only ever met and spoke to you on the water.
love to fish with you next year hope you dont mind 2nd place tho lol
Tim
outa-line

I echo the sentiments of many here in saying that the event was very well done and I too am not happy about having to be out of town for part of the weekend and therefore unable to attend the full event. I was able to attend the dinner/awards on Sunday night had a great time meeting some new/old fishing friends. I didn't hear about the derby until a couple months prior so I already had plans to leave town. Next year I definitely plan on staying around and getting a boat entered. Big thx to the winning groups who all donated part of their prize to the pacific salmon foundation and the capilano little one school. The prizes and food were awesome this year and since they plan on growing this derby to nearly double the size for next year I'm sure people will be stoked on all the great swag available.

Kudos to the organizers for turning this from concept to great event in just a couple years. See you all at the 2014 edition.
