Chevron Marine Gas

Chevron Marine Gas was 2¢ more expensive than Chevron 94.

What's the octane rating on this fuel? There isn't anything on the pump indicating. There is a sticker indicating marked fuel. I assume there's an ethanol content in it, but it's unclear.

Why is it more expensive than their super premium fuel?

It's marked so there shouldn't be any road excise tax, I suspect it's 89 octane, and likely has 1-15% ethanol...

the main - and only - refinery for BC is mixing ethanol in gas. doesnt matter where you are in BC, youre going to get ethanol in your fuel as long as it comes from a pump regardless of labels on the pump or anything else. To enforce this the BC government also passed a regulation mandating it by law. so you cant get around it either. https://www.bclaws.gov.bc.ca/civix/document/id/complete/statreg/295_2023 (Thanks, NDP)
marine gas is usually 90 octane with 10% ethanol.

So the bulk station in McNeil tells me guaranteed no ethanol in the marked gas. Are they lying

The Hyde Creek Petro Canada station, just south of Port McNeill had a note posted on their pump last time I was there, saying that their marine fuel is now premium becasue that is the only grade available ethanol free.

I've asked two different guys working at the Richmond marine chevron/parkland and they both assured me the marked gas was ethanol free. I tried emailing the corporate office to confirm but no reply. I might grab a graduated cylinder and test it myself to be sure.

you cant legally sell ethanol free fuel in BC.
so your only choices are -
[1] buying from the equivalent of a black market operation (gasoline bottles at the side of a road) or
[2] buying fuel from legit sources who tell you they are ethanol free either through ignorance or malice but arent.
reformulated synthetic gasoline or avgas 100LL is excluded (e.g. trufuel) since it isnt sold from a pump (tanker truck in case of 100LL, can in the case of trufuel). thats the only way to get ethanol free fuel.

I seem to recall some 100LL pumps at a handful of small airports around the province... been many years though, but can't imagine that they switched to trucks.
