Cherry Point Herring

Is there a herring spawn around cherry point? Or a better question.. would it be worth trying for winters along the cherry point flats where all the eel grass is?

I've seen huge bait balls in the area, the ones I saw on the surface were not mature herring but 2 inchers, can't say about the deep ones.

The answer is yes and yes. However, spawning takes place from April through June. The latest group of our herring spawning stocks down here.

They should start schooling rather heavily the last week of March.

haha different local cherry point captain downriggin
but out of curiosity, the water is only 6-50' deep... what depth should i be fishing at, and just with an anchovy??
or casting in the shallow water right on the eel grass? thanks
