Since I'm a card carrying member now.... I got this tidbit in my email. I'm gonna check it out if I can get away from my yardwork.
Please join us at our annual Rivers Day Salmon Festival, Saturday, October 18 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at Chapman Creek Hatchery, 4381 Parkway Drive, Sechelt, BC. Phone 604-885-4136.

There will be fun for the whole family with games, music, crafts, and fin clipping demonstrations. Fresh salmon burgers, hot dogs and soft drinks will be available for sale.

Another email from the hatchery... (sorry if I'm letting the cat out of the bag for some...)

We now have whole salmon for crab & prawn bait for sale. $5.00 per fish.

"Smokers" will be available after spawning. Please call the hatchery at 604-885-4136 for spawning dates.

Spawning is taking place today, November 5, until noon.

I did suggest to them that those salmon they don't sell for bait or "smokers" should be put into local streams to "fertilize" them....
