Challenging DFO Ticket- anyone done it?

I am glad he was a nice guy. I have been to QCL and I can't see them putting at risk a multi-million dollar business with a carefully crafted five star fishing reputation on the line.

Does anyone remember hearing about successful sting operations netting a bunch of bad guys?

The fact that the DFO was/might be still (?) doing this type of undercover operation is mindboggling.

Perhaps Spring Fever, by some one in a million statistical fluke (pun intended), had his fish mixed up with the only DFO undercover Sting Operation ever attempted.is hilarious.

It might be an interesting to learn if someone, or some organization, took the time and decided to learn more from the DFO on this "Investigative Practice" through Freedom of Information Requests on a National Basis.

Being the twisted and beaten down cynic that I have become, I have to wonder if these investigations created overtime costs during the duration of these Investigations and if they have continued?

Have deep have the DFO gone undercover?

Have Officers spent a week at Martha and Bert's Salmon Camp ?

Bert Says

"We added a third 15' Whaler to our fleet this year and we have all new wall tents this year!"

New News from Margaret !!

The scenic walk to Our Gravity Feed Toilets and showers now has twinkle lights illuminating your path."

Or did their Undercover Operations only investigate "High Value Targets?" i.e QCI, Plummers, etc.

In other words did the DFO only go after the "Big Fish."

My reply was from a guide who probably isn't the size of qcl?

I'd guess this is no different than any other law enforcement sting that goes on every day that we dont hear about.

Might have been some small warnings given out ? Who knows?
He just said no charges were laid.

There was an annual derby going that trip, rich guys from all over North America, way to much $$ for me to join in on that.
My son and I (he was a guide at the time and took that trip off), fished together. Good times
Sorry for the snide remark. It was an attempt at sarcasm after all few Cuba Libres.

I know I had what I thought were undercover , As ive fielded usually the same questions over and over and over these past 35 years of doing this .
then I had these 2 ask me more specific questions regarding certain species etc. ones ive never heard of before , knew something was off..

Like I said in a earlier post they boarded me this year checked ALOT of my gear and no issues at all , Not to defend them but they are just trying to do there job which i can assume is challenging being lied to alot etc as there is some rampant poaching going on out there espeically in certain area WE all know whos doing it, I can say there are certain people in our area that reallly done care....

5 star treatment only.

She took a photo.
I honestly can’t see that standing up unless it was clear the Barb hadn’t been crimped. To be honest I think it is pretty unlikely they could convict anyone who made an effort to crimp the Barb. If it doesn’t get thrown out, which I’m sure it will, I’d take a couple of hooks and a pair of pliers and ask the Judge to try it. It would have to be a real good photo and generally speaking the courts want the evidence as opposed to a picture. Most people probably just pay the fine and that’s what they are hoping.

All depends on the judge and the day.
With the best case possible, the odds are still 50/50 when you walk into court.
Take nothing for granted.

Sure smells like BS, best of luck to your boy.

Give them a pair of pliers and a hook, (in court)see how they do in a demonstration
I don't think that would be a good enough demonstration. The rule says you have to pinch it flat or file it flat. So if the pinching doesn't do a good enough job, you are supposed to file it. Not that I've ever seen anyone file it off LOL

Not sure about taking a “hook” thru a metal detector…… which most courts now require you to walk thru. I’ve filed…… now it’s a wait and see for our day in court.
