Hey, I hear that thought loud and clear. Now I am just as patriotic as the next guy and would love to see Canada stay as one, but....When all we seem to get is a real dry reaming every time the Federal government tells us to bend over, it starts to make one wonder....why the hell do we keep bending over????

Take from say Manitoba or Sask. west and it would make one hell of a powerful resource nation. Maybe we would have better control over our grain sales, livestock, poultry, minerals, fossil fuel resources, our taxes!!!, the list goes on and on.... Maybe we could start to make our own steel here in the west, maybe we could market our fossil fuels, there are lots of things that we could do for ourselves without waiting for permission from some people that couldn't give a ***** about us if it weren't for our tax dollars. Hell maybe we could even go out and fish for our own fish for christ sakes, hell if we were in control of our own fish, then at least we would be able to go to sleep at night knowing that there would be fish left for our kids and grandkids to catch.

Maybe it is time for us to undergo a trial of our own starting at the next election an experimental government for Western Canada, where for those that participate there will be better representation for the needs of all parties involved, and more respect for the people of the West.

Just thinkin out loud, this topic sure seems to come up on a more regular basis by more and more people these days, must mean that more and more people are just about fed up with the representation and resect that we get here in the west.

I feel your pain Osama but would never ascribe to separation.
In my view, Quebec separatists are among the scummiest of scumbags.

I can think of nothing more insulting to those who gave their lives & limbs during the Wars than the cultivation of the break-up of this great nation.

Although I too become angry at the constant ebb and flow of greed, corruption and ineptitude that flows from Ottawa, I know my country will be stronger in the long run if it remains united.

Perhaps what we should be pushing for here - considering DFO's appalling track-record - is REGIONALISM OF OUR FISHERIES.

Think about that for a second...

Once Campbell is out of the picture and we get someone in there who actually gives a fly'in f#ck about fish habitat and sovereignty over our water, we could offer Ottawa the opportunity to wash their hands of the Pacific fishery which has been and remains little more than a boil on their butt.

Let's get real here, considering DFO's support of salmon-farming, their long-running ignorance and outright disrespect towards the rec-sector, endless cutbacks in habitat rehabilitation and hatchery programs, their slow but steady sinking of the commercial fleets and our First Nation's food fishery - clearly they have been begging their walking-papers for DECADES!

TIME TO GIVE OTTAWA THEIR WALKING PAPERS AND INSTALL 'THE PEOPLE OF THE WEST COAST' AS STEWARDS OF THE ENTIRE FISHERIES!

A JOINT WESTERN MARINE/FRESHWATER FISHERIES MANAGEMENT CO-OP: 50% PROVINCE OF BC/50% FIRST NATIONS!

Now this is something I could get excited about leaving for my kids.

Trouble is, if you make enough noise and gain any credible or formidable following, they'll do something like they did to me and accuse you of making bomb-threats against the Government (the DFO in my case) and then - regardless if the allegations are true or not - watch your support evaporate faster than Johns from a whorehouse when someone yells, "AIDS!"

Gotta' work smarter than them I figure.

H-core: I have 100% confidence that if the Indians' were 50% management partners with us in determining conservation, habitat restoration, hatchery and allocation directives - THAT THEY WOULD DO A 100% BETTER JOB THAN THOSE NO-BRAIN DICKS IN OTTAWA HAVE MANAGED IN THE LAST 4 DECADES!

History has shown that they managed to use the resource how many 1000's of years without any extinctions?
Then along comes the White Man and wham-O... less than 100 yrs later we've got over 150 runs of salmon gone and much of what's left in serious trouble.
