Went for a walk yesterday and seen 20 trailers and boats heading straight out from Pacific Playgrounds, looked like they were heading to sentry shoales

A buudy of mine was at Kitty Coleman, with a bunch of other boats, I suspect that is what you saw.
Fishing was slow, they were there from 10.00am until 5:00 before theygot a fish on, and then fed a seal:(
They ended up with one in the boat, around 15 lbs,not much for 10 hours.
The other guy was a guide from QCI, so they knew what they were doing.

Things to know if you are going to fish in area 14-13 in June 2009

Don’t fish from Kitty launch to one mile out, then following the shoreline to the Powell River ferry dock. These springs are the summer run Puntledge. Not many left and seals are hitting them hard. DFO has marked it as non-retention June 1 to June 30.

Don’t fish too close (1.50Nm radius) to Sentry Shoals marker buoy. Here again DFO has non-retention within theses dates.

RCA around Mitlenatch Island.

Unmarked Coho must be released.
June 1-Dec 31 Two fin clipped over 30cm maybe retained. (Don’t forget to turn in the heads.)

There are numerous other non-retention areas near Comox Harbour, best to look them up before you wet a line over there.

See you all out there.

Thanks Fishingbc. I stand corrected. Went out today with FA and we put 4 in the boat. Thought I was going to have a bad day because I lost the first three. Turned out to be a great day. Fished from 9 to 4 bankers’ hours. IFL sorry to here you had such little luck.
Been there done that many times.

Hey GLG
What time were you out there? AM, PM?

LET GO OF THE REEL!!!

Tortuga, I was out from 9 till 2 PM today (Saturday) hard fishing in the wind and waves this morning. FA and I picked up one each 19 or 20 #. A marble and a white. Saw a few others getting fish also. Splatterback hootchies at 160 to 180 feet on the tide change. I’ve heard rumors of a few 30 + # getting caught. I have not seen any but who knows. Will try again on Sunday if the wind and the waves let us launch. It was an iffy launch this morning as we were looking for our limits and I think we found it. GLG

Going out again to “pound her” looking for that 30+. Wind looks good 5 – 10 knots. Tide looks good with a low at lunch of 2 feet. Could be a stellar day. Got to love being able to fish so close to home and have a chance to hook some nice fish. Getter done and be home for supper. We live in paradise. GLG

Great fishing over the weekend.
Lot's of hits and most boats are getting 1 or 2.
There is 3 or 4 bite times thru the day.
Just have to be there with your gear in the water at the right time.
It' not hard to tell when and where.
Look for the nets flying in the air.
Lot's of gear working but depth seems to be key.
Fish in 180 to 230 feet of water. 160 to 180 on the DR.
If you get rock fish your to deep.
Some mud sharks are showing up this past 2 days.
I don't know what it will do for the fishing, will see.
Fish size has been high teens to mid twenty's.
Heard of a few large but I have not seen any.
Guys are tell me it like the 1970's again.
