Cabelas Vacuum Sealers?

Whole in the Water

Its time to replace my vacuum sealer. I have had 3 Foodsaver's and not that impressed with their performance overall. I know the best way to go is chamber sealers, but their are too much $ for the budget.

What to try a different brand with better performance. Has anyone had any experience with the Cabelas brand vacuum sealers?

They seem to have good warranty and replacement parts.

Got myself one of the good ones at Tro tac, so much better than the cheaper one I hated! These units weld a manly seam on the bags! I should have gone quality in the beginning.

I have a cabelas sealer, its about 6 years old now and I really use it a lot. No problems at all. I killed a lot of foodsavers.
They are made by Weston so parts are easy to get if you do need them. They have a wide seal, not just a thin line like foodsaver, so they don't loose the seal as soon as you handle them in the freezer.
I got a chamber sealer (vacmaster 215) a couple months ago
but I still use the Cabelas sealer for doing sides and whole sockeye. I think they are worth the investment.

Thinking also of chamber sealer. Too expensive? Figure you already bought 3 food savers, and are looking at another purchase. Might be better to bite the bullet and get a chamber sealer and not buy another and have what you want. Thinking if I get a chamber sealer still need the bag sealer to transport fish in BC to meet the size requirements.

I guess I have been lucky as I have been using a FoodSaver VAC 1200 for years and it has had a huge amount of use by myself and others I have lent it to and it does the job well.

It just keeps going and going with no problems whatsoever like the Eveready Bunny and I will double or triple seal if it is drawing out moisture.

I am amazed it has not just worn out with so much use as it was not an expensive unit to begin with. Of course in saying this I may have tempted fate.

I have a new heavy duty game saver duel voltage (12/120 volts) model in the box I picked up on sale waiting to replace it for when it finally packs it in, when/if that happens. If I were to get half the use out of it that we have got out of the VAC 1200 I will be happy.

It may be that my experience is not typical, but we sure can’t complain.

Check out
Vacuumsealersunlimited.com, awesome lady, decent prices and ships fast too, better to use a mailing center and pickup in the USA, but she does ship to Canada
I can probably dig up a coupon code for at least another 10% if you need.
She also has chamber sealers at a decent price.
I use one of the big stainless 300 series vacmasters and it is great
Great place to buy bags and rolls too

I bot the basic version from cabelas 2 years ago... after 2 year i wish i saved alittle more money and got a better one. Alot of times i have to vaccumm the bag 2-3 times before i get the proper seal.

i bot the one for 150 bucks. spend the extra money!
