Buying boat in the USA

I cannot find the thread about buying boat in the USA.

I would like to know how can I do the processing with the customs or paying taxes before bringing the boat in Canada.

not sure if u can pay before hand,i just bought mine in late june and at the border they did a fairly good inspection of the boat to justify value,once it was establish the purchase price was good relating to the boat ,paid taxes and off I went,all and all took about an hr.btw I had all paper work in order before showing up at the boarder.

Bringing a printout of the ad for the boat in question is a big help establishing the value.

I had all that too,but asking price got negociated after survey and mechanical,(got the price down )
