Broken Sage Rod

I just broke the tip off my 10 foot 9 wt Sage Rod. I bought it as a blank and had it built for me by a friend. I use it with my downriggers. It is great for winters.

My question is this. Does Saga guarantee replacement extend to rod blanks? If so do they replace the blank or do I get fully finished rod?

Finslly where do I take it to get it replaced? Thanks for anyonse's help on this.

Sage blanks are guaranteed.
Take the whole rod into a store that sells Sage rods and they will arrange shipping.
Call/email Sage and they will give you instructions on shipping direct to them, this is the fastest way to get the rod back.
You will only get the blank tip back, and you will have to pay someone,or do it yourself, move guides to new tip.

you bought it as a blank and so that is what is warrantied. they will replace the blank, whole thing or just the tip depending on their inventory of similar rod parts. call'um and they will tell you how to ship and where. shipping down is on you, i believe they will pay shipping back, but not certain our of the US.

When buying a new rod I was once told that you should be able to pick the rod up by the tip and not have it break. I have had good success at finding a good rod that way. However once in port alberni in a tackle shop the rod didn't make the test.[:p]The salesmen wasn't too happy about my test after that! I told him no thanks these rods are no good!

Take only what you need.

Sage will instruct you to strip the guides off before returning it unless you want them to discard them. I don't know how far from the tip top your break was, but if close you might want to get a new tip top and install it and check to see if you are still happy with the action.

Go to Outfitters as they are a dealer, and they will instruct you on what to do. Sage is top of the line and they stand behind there gear. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice. I think I will glue on a new tip and give it a try first. If it doesn't work then I will send back the broken section and get a new blank to get finished by some one.

This summer I broke 2 Sage rods...both broke when I was hooking and then snap.

Replaced both times, but this after the 2nd one we upgraded to the 40lbs test max. instead of the 25lbs test max and the rod has been real good with no problems at all. Love playing a fish with the Sages though...wow!

I thought Sage rods were the best. How come they're always breaking?
