Braid to Wire?

Switching to braid on Scotty dnrigger.

Would you leave a hundred feet of wire on the spool and add 250 ft of braid to it??

I don’t see the point in it, have Braid all the way through on mine and I don’t see any issues. I’ve had it on for 2 seasons now.

I used a couple of layers of Gorilla tape (just to soften the blow) before adding braid. Depending on where you fish 250ft may not be enough. I might also worry about the wire jaggers cutting that new braid

Don’t do that. Just run full braid. I run 400’ on either rigger so if I manage to ping one off near boat I’m still able to fish deep for the day. Worth carrying spool on the boat too.

Yeah, I guess was cheaping out trying to get by with just one spool and some ss wire for the few, if any times I go deeper than 250... guess I'll buy another spool and put them both on.
