Bottom Paint questions

Tips Up

I am looking to repaint the bottom of my 175 Double Eagle. Kept on trailer. Last done 5 years ago with an ablative bottom paint. I was told at the time this is what I needed for a boat kept on trailer out of the water.

I could not remember which bottom paint I used last other than it was Interlux ablative paint.

There is a Micron CSC- CA and a Bottomkot-CA

Micron CSC-CA is a multi season paint. "Polishing"
Bottomkot- CA is a single season paint. "Ablative"

Any experience here? Why would I not use the Micron CSC-CA for better longevity?

Thanks!

You can’t put a hard paint on a soft paint, you can put a soft paint on hard paint, make sense ???csc is a hard paint, bottomkote xxx is a soft paint, so you need to know what paint was used last,an ablative paint is easy to scrub off with a plastic scrapper( soft) if it was csc its does not scrape easy(hard) bottomkote xxx last more then a year, I go 3 years with mine and it’s moored 6 months a year.csc last longer but more prep is involve to use

How much time does the boat spend in the water? Typically unless you keep it in the water for long periods of time you don't need bottom paint. Not sure what the cut off is, but it's definitely multiple weeks in the water before you need to worry about bottom paint.
