Black and gold MR2???

If the serial number matches on both parts it was built that way. If serial numbers don't match it is parts from two different reels. I guess if it was not an intentional build it could have been a painting error in which case it would be a one of a kind 2nd and if it was a stamp or a coin it would be worth a fortune. I assume the MR2 has a serial # on both parts. I know the MR3 does.

Probably parts of two reels. The local hockey team in town is green and gold and the local fishing shop made up a green and gold islander for fun and donated to the team for a fundraiser. I watched him take them apart and mix and match the reels.

I have an old MR1 that was a special edition that was black and gold as well as new MR3's black with gold knobs as well

You can order them like that but this looks to be an old parted together reel one give away is the blue case. You can order them like that too but I'm sure the black reel are alot newer then that blue case. My bro has 2 gold ones and 2 black ones and switched the knobs and I was going to order black ones with all silver parts. Something different . I'm not home imps I can't see if there's 2 serial numbers

I was watching that t.v. show "Big Coast" couple of days ago......they were fishing off Ucluelet......and the guy had one with black body and gold drag knob......

Pretty sure that was a MR3 not MR2. I tape all big coast shows so I'll check to make sure.

Just got a great deal on that MR2....Made the guy an offer and he took it, as well delivered it to the Comox Valley this morning.

Can't complain about that... :)
