Big wind storm coming our way (straight of georgia, Vancouver area and more) tonight and tomorrow. Batten down your boats and stay home!

"Gale' force winds of 34 to 47 knots are occurring or expected to occur in this marine area. Watch for updated statements. Please refer to the latest marine forecasts for further details and continue to monitor the situation through Canadian Coast Guard radio or Weatheradio stations."

yep...turned back this morning. I wanted to work around the house and do a dump run more than spending the weekend working on the cabin...NOT.

looks like it was a good decision to pull the boat for a week, having some new tops done,
hoping to extend the fishing season a little, will be back in the water next weekend hopefully.

blew really hard in nanaimo overnight, but no rain and as calm as can be yesterday and then again this am!

It's blowing 20-25 knots from the sand heads north. I wouldn't call that calm.

Banger, it's gusting 25 knots at Entrance Island so how can you call that calm in Nanaimo?

Funny that Sooke and JR are the only nice spots... I guess we get to miss it

FA... i wasn't referring to how calm the water was, I was just referring to the weather outside my house. I guess I should have clarified that piece... as I was under the impression that storms hit everywhere other than just on the water?

They've increased it to a Storm Warning now. 63 knot winds will sink a runabout in no time. I guess there won't be anyone fishing the cap tomorrow morning;)

Just did a ferry crossing and the seas were bizarre. 2m SE swell at about 4 seconds near nanaimo. It looked like big bank. Then closer to Van it was really confused seas with 4 ft chop and no real direction or pattern.

Just came back from having a look @ the Harbour-as the song goes All Is Calm but it sure was whipping earlier.

Just got back from Renny what a sloppppppy day managed 5 coho no size. But real nasty ou there.
