Anyone seen these things? Looks pretty much like what we were planning on building.......atv winch and all!

Thanks for the link to that. I need to build another one soon and that gave me some great idea's. You can get the winches on sale at Canuck Tire or Costo for as little as 50 bucks. We have build three so far with the winch motors. If you hit them periodically with Boeshield they last pretty good. I destroyed the first one by leaving it on the boat out in the weather all winter. If you look after them they will last. My buddies is over 6 years old now and still runs great.

will these unit built with ATV winches pull a bigger load than the ace units. Like two traps with say 15# in each trap and a 20# line weight. I dont know that my Ace will like pulling that much and i know the trap thieves won't ether.

thanks for the info. I figured they would be kinda loud but no big deal. What size wheel are you running on it.

I'm running a wheel about the size of an old manual Scotty downrigger spool. The larger wheel like the one on the Kahuna looks interesting. I want to try a bigger wheel out to try to get some more speed. I am using a 3000 lb. ATV winch I bought from Canadian Tire on sale for 59 bucks. They have tons of torque.

I have a wheel for an Ace so i was thinking of trying that. Bigger wheel would be faster but you would cut down the power a bit , with a 2-3000lb winch it shouldn't matter ???

Ideally a motor with a closer ratio than 153:1 & larger amperage would be a key plus a larger dia. wheel drive will greatly increase line pickup, imo

Hi Guys, this is the Prawn Star Trap Pullers, the maker a "The Big Kahuna". It seems like you all have a lot of questions to ask me. I hope that I can be of some help.

I think maybe the best way to reach me at " Big Kahuna Pullers" is though an e/mail. I would be willing to answer any questions about my pullers, you can reach me at my e/mail, raqa@telus.net. Thank you Rod
