Did a search on this site and many others as well as Google to learn more about the best way to re-spool stainless steel cable onto a Depthpower downrigger. Didnt find much. Some of these companies need to get on board and make some videos to enhance their customer service. Its a no brainer. Seems easy to do if you're replacing SS with braid, but might be tricky if you're going again with old school SS.

Best tip i got from a pro put the spool in your pocket keeps the wire from jumping off.
Let it rip directly onto drum from pocket using hand to distribute up and down.
Works like a charm.

**WARNING**use heavy leather gloves this gets hot, put spool of wire on some sort of axle, hold axle between both hands with medium pressure on spool and hit the auto knob, dont worry about when to stop it.... just shut her down as soon as it peels off the spool, next time your on the water let it down with 12-15lbs of lead to within the last 50 feet and then respool, bring it back up, add some flash and bait/spoon relower and enjoy

I put a cannon ball on the ground just below the rigger. Go thru the ball, up then on the rigger. Helps wind it on just like it would normaly. I hold the spool insde of a old rag and put a bit of preasure on it. Takes no time at all.
