So on the way to bamfield on saturday I hit somthing and broke my transducer, anybody know of a good replacement?

Go talk to Mike Denise, or Dane at Harbour Chandler. They will give you the facts on tansducers.

I just did some research on this and the p66 definitly seems to be superior over stock lowrance...currently waiting for my p66 to come in, will be hooking it up to hds7

I've tried a few different transducers over the years on lowrance products and the airmar is hands down the best so far. I have no problems marking my cannonballs as deep as I want to put them. The only issue I ever have is when running sometimes because of the size of it I loose bottom not really an issue if I know where I'm going to start fishing. When I'm in search mode for bait and hooks and running 25 or so I switch over to the stock lowrance transducer. As far as a reliable transom mount ducer that doesn't blow up after 3 months the airmar is the way to go. I have had mine this being the forth year still working strong!

I have an Airmar p79 shoot thru down in the bilge hooked to my HDS10 and can track bottom
without a hiccup at cruise (30+mph)
works great and easy to install if your moored by chance
and you wont rip it off hitting things either
