Can anyone tell when is the very best time to fish Nootka. I am think the last week of July and am planning on fishing the mouth of the inlet or offshore. Staying at Friendly cove.

thanks,
Gregg

Well if it means anything... I will be there fishing the northend July 28th - August 5th. Good tides, good moon. The last week of July - first week of August is usually a good time! That's a secret, so don't tell anyone! :)

The run going to Conuma is pretty strong that time of year, so the fishing should be good! Conuma is at the head of Tlupana Inlet. But, the quality of fish is better offshore. Get them before they start turning soft! Another secret! :)

There are lots of fish around well into mid August and later but most are getting quite dark by then - you probably have picked the optimum time (i.e. 1 week either side of the August long weekend). Will be lots of boats on the inside.

Keep a close eye on the regs because they changed recently and will probably change again thru the summer.... there are some key boundaries right around the mouth (at Friendly)that you should also be aware of...Fisheries/RCMP check boats in this area quite frequently.:)
