Halibut fishing should be OK in the Burke. Do some fuel burn calc's if you're heading down from Bella Bella to Namu. Rene e-mailed me last week and they still didn't have any fuel to sell in Namu at that time. Hopefully they will get some soon. You are a little early for significant Salmon catching but....I always got the "story" about the early Spring run that went right past the fuel dock at Bella Bella village. The locals all said I was a week late, or a week early, or the fish were elsewhere!!! You might try Milbank Sound out front of the Seaforth and Cape Mark. Idol Point has always been productive for us but never this early.
Generally we try to get out there for June 20th (ish) for 3 to 5 days and do a counter-clockwise trip around King Island from Bella Coola. That is, Bella Coola - Fisher-Gunboat to Bella Bella. Spend 2 days fishing Idol Point, Cape Mark, Seaforth etc. then down through Lama Pass -Fisher down to Namu. Halibut in the Burke and prawns at the mouth of the Burke or out front of the islands. In July, Aug. and Sept. (1 wk. each month) we will change up a bit and maybe go straight south out of Bella Bella down to Cultus Sound and Spider Island and try our luck in Hakai Pass. Hope you have a good trip....
