Beach fishing from Lazo to Little River Ferry

I don't know about anyone else, but I have had my worst season of beach fishing in 10 years. By now I have usually picked up quite a few coho along the beaches, fly fishing from the shore. I have seen very few coho showing, almost no pinks to speak of and so far no chinook from the shore. I wonder where all the fish are this year? Even the buzz bombers along the beach by the ferry have given up in disgust!

There were issues at the hatchery a few years ago with water temps. It was known that it was going to be slow this year. This has been mentioned on other Comox threads.

I am aware of that, but it's quite sad that we have to rely totally on the hatchery for our fishing. What about all the wild fish and fish passing through heading for other rivers and the fish returning to the Little River, they didn't have a problem with the water temperature at that hatchery! Hardly no pinks this year either along the beaches.

Way to early for little river coho. That said have not seen any coho around here yet this year.

Report from oyster is that there is coho, but they're further out past shorefishing reach.. float boats are hitting them. Lots of coho north of the narrows. Lots of silver pinks up there yet too. I think this side is just slow in general, and what is out there, are not coming in close.
