Certainly delayed the process for us.

Ours came through very quickly - No additional documentation was requested. Perhaps a random application audit on yours?

My son had to supply additional documentation, tax return, proof of residence etc while my daughter got her’s quickly. Appears to be random since both were born in BC and have lived here always.

Ours showed up in the account today. No extras needed. It took 6 days total. If you have your SIN, Driver's license #, a blank check for an account number and line 23600 (net income) from 2019 tax assessment (or an easy way to access your federal My Account), the application only takes a few minutes.
It's net income, so although I thought we might get a reduced amount based on the income amounts in the media, it wasn't really that close.

The program is BS. Based on last years income. Should be based on this years income.
Yeah good point, but until you file a tax return how would they know? I suspect they could wait until the Spring after the years filing or reopen it for those who didn’t qualify. Not a 100% solution for sure.

This is just a socio-populist move by the NDP IMO. Running the republic of welfare collectors and buying publicity on tax payers’ dime.
There’s no long term plans to support the small businesses or recreate/shift the jobs that have vanished in many of the sectors. I’m in the tech sector and there’s a bigger need for resources b/c of Covid’s impact. There’s massive opportunity to retrain and move people to new jobs but our government is just focused on the short term solutions to keep the herds happy. Millions of $$ that are being handed out could’ve been strategically used to support the workforce transformation and to support the businesses that have the potential for quickly recovery. What’s $500/head going to do if you’re living in a city like Vancouver or Victoria?.
