BC Outdoors Mag promoting Lease Program

Hey guys,

Had a buddy call me up to let me know he saw an ad in the latest copy promoting the lease program. Went to their website and on the front page, there it is " Catch More Halibut" direct link to the lease program and how it all works.

Just lost all my business and will be actively telling all I know to boycott their mag and website. Wheare these guys going to get it, the rec sector is huge and a few dollars in ad money is going to sink their businesses.

Thanks for posting the contact link GLG, totally forgot in my rage while starting the thread. I have also contacted them with a not so nice email. They need to know that this program is BS and it will cost any and all businesses that promote it.

What more can you expect from that mag.
LOL!!!

OFF WITH THEIR HEADS!!!

Just got a personal phone call from the editor of the mag, he had no idea that the ads were taken out in his mag. He will be pulling the link off their home page and will no longer be running any ads for the program.

He told me that his mag does not support the lease program, that they are 100% against the program and will address the issue again in their next issue

They did the right thing, I had a long conversation with the editor, he was not happy that this happened. His mag has been 100% against this and the allocation problem since the start.

Good to see!

Not to beat a dead horse, but,,, in less than two hours from when it was noticed to being posted here, to Bearcove getting a call, and the ad was removed (I noticed this thread just before 6:00pm and it was gone at that time, and Bearcove posted at 5:40 that he got a call from the editor, so that really only took about 20 minutes to have taken down.),,, now if that had happened here last week, things would be different here than they are today. Just saying.

Good on them for responding so quickly, and hopefully the editor looks into how a contentious ad got placed in their medium and can tie up that loose end.

We all need to stand together and send the DFO and the Halibut Quota Leasers a message to take their experimental program and its ads and poke it up their Aces, we don't want any part of it.

Good work guys!

LoL ! I read the first couple of posts and immediately fired off this e-mail to the publisher:

Sir;
I have been purchasing your mag at the store for years (too lazy to take the time to send in a subscription) and am horrified to see that you have accepted an ad promoting leasing of halibut for sport fishers. Surely you must be aware that this ill advised program is a feeble attempt by the government to placate the outrage caused by ill advised policies that discriminate against Canadians right to fair access to a public resource. For a company that promotes itself to sport fishers this is a slap in the face to all Canadians.
I will never purchase your magasine (or watch the show you promote) again. Further, I am posting this to all sport fishing forums. I am certain that your actions will cause a significant financial downturn for your company. You have shattered your reputation in the sport fishing community.

Then I read the rest of the posts and find that they pulled the ad. Oh well, at least they know we are paying attention
